Yup, most of my young life I wanted a best friend I could confide in, tell someone what was going on in my life. That really didn’t happen. The friendships didn’t last for lots of reasons. I was very lonely growing up, that and scared. I found my footing eventually. Now I realize lots of people enter and exit our lives, including family. Part of growing up, wiser, life experiences and of course getting older.
I'm coming I'm coming! Politics & Prose or Carrol County Library, two chances! Haven't been fortunate enough to see you in person since Another Thing to Fall. I'll have to celebrate by wearing a Beany Malone-themed outfit, maybe a Seamist sweater with painted leaves on it. Such congrats on another fabulous read. and PS Friends do not share 'bad reviews' or 'bad things others say about you.' That is not a friend. That is a s**t-stirrer.
Just finishing the preview copy of this delightful novel and absolutely loving it! Charming and yes “seemingly light-hearted” — with dashes of Christie and international intrigue — fun fashion (it’s Paris! And caftans!) — lots of the beloved Lippman pop-culture and Baltimore references — and especially wonderful reflections about aging into these 60s and beyond. Hope to catch you again on the road. Congratulations on #29/30, Teach!
"Y’all, it’s just my meat sack, let’s all leave it be." I don't cross-stitch, which is a shame because I need this on a pillow. Congratulations on the book and may the book tour be as fabulous as the dress, rude name and all!
as a longtime cross stitcher, I'll tell you, any non stitcher can cheat this using any even-weave fabric and so called 'puffy paint' for fabric, it'll give you enough of the cross stitch vibe to make you happy. Further cheat by doing it on a ready made pillow rather than whipping one up yourself.
Ooh, buy the dress! ❤. I was lucky enough to read an ARC and loved, loved, loved it! We'll be heading out on a Viking Cruise this summer - perfect time to reread Murder Takes a Vacation. (Just read Clair's comment - yes to the boots).
In all seriousness, someone should rewrite The Love Machine, but make it all about Ethel Evans, by far the most interesting character in the book. It could be a female-centric What Makes Sammy Run?
I really want to know the name of the dress. (Also: just buy it! Yolo!)
DROP THE NAME
Shoe game remains strong
Glad you defriended #5. That is a very destructive person.
That friend ghosted me!
Maybe she really wasn’t a friend but a passerby. We have lots of those in our lives.
And friendships end for all sorts of reasons!

Those shoes are fabulous, but I think it needs cowboy boots.
If you want some fine walking opportunities with views of the Toledo skyline, Glass City Metropark is a delight.
I live in Washington DC so I will be at Politics and Prose! Perhaps you'll tell us your name for the dress : )
I CAN’T WAIT!! i’ll be at your toledo public library event on the 26th!!

Toledo is a very doable drive. Dustin and I may be there, incognito in sunglasses.
i’m going to the toledo event!
Love the dress. It's absolutely meant for you. I am waiting as patiently as I can for your new book.
I read (and reread) Marjorie Morningstar and The Love Machine many, many years ago when I was much younger and enjoyed both.

That's a great idea!
See you in BALTIMORE!
