Thanks I'll push our library to buy copies. I have pull (I think) : ) Libraries love titles like these and I hope Ms. Zamorano's publisher or distributor is making it known. Always curious about this end of the market
I asked the Los Angeles Public Library (where I worked as a librarian until retiring last March), and got this response: "Copies of this book are on order and the author will be joining us for our Indie-pendent voices festival." https://www.lapl.org/indie
I look forward to seeing Ms. Zamorano in person! Hope other L.A. Laura Lippman substack readers will be there too!
This is wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing this interview. I'm going to pre-order. I teach a range of classes, including a 300 level Multicultural Lit and Film class, and this interview and Zomorano's book are perfect for it. I like to use Critical Race Theory and the tenet of counternarrative as the framing tool. My dissertation was a Critical Family History (grounded in CRT) and I attempted a counter-narrative of my family's "pioneer" status in Washington territory. Yay!!!!
I just pre-ordered Dispossessed, but am also going to request that my library order copies. I'm ashamed to say that I am ignorant about this horrible period of American history, but I will not stay this way long. Thank you so much for this today!!❤️
I just requested my library order it as well. I always forget about this option. So thanks for the reminder. And this is a great interview. Unfortunately so many author interviews are blah at best and absolute tripe at worst, but this was amazing and you could tell it came from a place of passion and intelligence. Almost like you had some kind of journalism training...
Sorry about the weird type layered over the cover; my computer has been doing some weird things as of late.
That’s interesting.i looked at it very closely and thought maybe it represented a fence!

You’re right, and asking your local library to buy a title is a really significant way to support a book.

Laura, like Stephen King - another favorite - you are extremely generous in your praise of other deserving authors. May you continue to thrive.
Thanks for this. Ordered for my Kindle.
Thank you for bringing this out to educate us. We can't learn and do better when we don't know.
Okay, now I really want to see inside your closet! You have such exquisite good taste in clothes.

Thank you so much for this wonderful interview and for introducing me to a new source of wisdom.
