This post was aces! Lots to chew on. Plus, in addition to your incredible work (and upcoming adaptation) you mentioned two of my fictional heroes, Columbo and Betsy Ray. (Just visited the Betsy-Tacy Museum for the first time last month.❤️)
I lived on Auchentoroly for 5 1/2 years and a few years after I moved in, my upstairs neighbor, a Black man in his 70s who grew up in Sandtown, told me about the dead woman found on the middle of the fountain in Druid Park Lake many years ago. I remember seeing the title of LitL and thinking, hmm, is this what I think it might be? Such a compelling mystery and I loved your fictional version. (And for those who want to know, it's pronounced ock-n-trolley.)
Love this. Thanks for sharing (confessing) it all. Reminded of that Barbara Kruger work asking the questions. Who is heard? Who is silenced? Or something along those lines. ❤️
“I have far more people in my life to thank than scores to settle. I need to remind myself of that from time to time.”
I shall attempt to take this energy into the rest of my week!
Meanwhile, I'm trying to get my 14-year-old to take your advice and stop worrying about being likable.
‘Tis a superpower well worth cultivating 🦸
I'm SO excited about the show! And, of course, loved the book. Also: anyone who thinks you're dumb is an actual idiot.
Congratulations. A series is huge achievement, and thank you for reminder to fuck feelings and remember the rare wonderful supporters.
You are terrific.
Back at you!
You are doing so much and making it look so easy. Can’t wait to see Litl on screen. ❤️
So excited for you!
I am always fascinated with that piece in AVAM, as I am with the entire museum.
I can’t wait to see LitL on screen! Congrats to you!

Fellow Jo March hater here!! I feel so seen!
I'm fascinated by that Columbo book.
It's good, but I think the Columbophile is the essential read.
I'm in bed with a raging headache and sore throat. You've made me feel a bit better! I love you and your brilliant brain, Laura.
Feel better soon!
:)

Doesn't everyone need to know how to say Auchentoroly?
